Introduction of Taiwan

Most areas of Taiwan enjoy a subtropical climate. Warm and mild all year round, visitors can comfortably tour Taiwan in any season. The temperature rises above 25 degree between June and September and drops below 15 degree between November and March when there is occasional snowfall on the higher mountains. In summer from June to October, there are occasional typhoons but these do not have a long-term impact on the island.

Tipping: Tipping is not necessary in Taiwan. The only people who really expect you to tip are hotel bellhops and airport porters, who will expect about US$1 a bag. Large hotels and restaurants will add 10% service charge and 5% value added tax to your bill.
Immunization: Hepatitis A, Tetanus recommended.
Passport/Visa: Passport required. Visa not required for American or Canadian citizens for stays of up to 30 days.
Airport: There are 2 international airports in Taiwan, the Tao Yuan International Airport (TPE) which is 40 KM south of Taipei, and Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), which is about 10 KM southeast of Kaohsiung City.
Airport tax: NT$ 300 (included in price of airline ticket)
Credit Cards: Major international credit cards can be used at most hotels and upscale restaurants or to obtain cash advances at your card's offices.
