The Heart of Asian (Singapore)

Singapore, just over 1 degree north of the equator, is at the heart of Asia's major trade routes. Thanks to its warm, humid climate, Singapore remains an undeniable tropical isle. Gleaming modern shopping centres and luxurious hotels are thrust up amidst the lush palms and vivid orchids. Trees cast their welcome shade along wide, clean boulevards as well as in spacious parks and gardens. Singapore has all the ingredients for a great holiday.

The City Tour

Begin with a drive around the Civic District past the Padang, Cricket Club, historic Parliament House, Supreme Court and City Hall. Stop at the Merlion Park for great views of Marina Bay and a picture-taking opportunity with The Merlion, a mythological creature that is part lion and part fish.

Visit Thian Hock Keng Temple, one of Singapore's oldest Buddhist-Taoist temples, before driving past Chinatown to watch craftsmen at work at the local handicraft centre. Proceed to the National Orchid Garden, located within Singapore Botanic Gardens, which boasts a sprawling display of 60,000 orchid plants. Final stop at Little India will entrance you with the scent of joss sticks, jasmine and spices.

Jurong Bird Park

Jurong Bird Park, located on 20 hectares of lush greenery within Singapore's model industrial estate, is home to over 8,000 birds of more than 600 species. Take a ride on the Panorail for a panoramic view of the Park and into a tropical world of jungle mists at the Waterfall Aviary. Enjoy the spectacular Penguin Exhibit and the All-Star Bird Show.

Sentosa

On Sentosa Island visit Images of Singapore, where you'll embark on a journey to experience the colourful culture and vibrant heritage of Singapore, re-told through life-size figures, animatronics and special effects. The beauty of a whole different world beneath the seas will overwhelm those who have opted to visit Underwater World and the Dolphin Lagoon, where you can watch the adorable pink dolphins perform their natural antics such as spy-hop, tail-flapping and vocalization. End the tour with a scenic cable car ride from Sentosa to Mount Faber where you can see the beautiful landscape of the city.

Singapore By Night

To Bugis Street for an outdoor dinner at a famous location, then stroll around a colourful "pasar malam" (night market). On to Chinatown to see one of Singapore's most traditional districts. Finally to the Raffles Hotel, once beautifully described as "standing for all the fables of the Exotic East," for a refreshing "Singapore Sling" cocktail.

East Coast Tour

To Arab Street, for a stroll around the heart of the Kampong Glam Malay area and a view of the Sultan's Mosque, one of Singapore's best. On to the Temple of 1,000 lights, then to Changi Prison where we stop at the renovated Chapel and Museum. Then to Changi Village and scenic views of the Johore Straits.
